Teaching

Teaching is one of my greatest joys; there is nothing like watching a light bulb go on in a student’s head when they suddenly realize they can do something they didn’t know they could do. I believe training in the performing arts should grow both the artist and the human being. I want students to build the skills, discipline, and artistry that can lead to work in the industry. At the same time, in a job market that is changing faster than any of us can predict, it is essential that they also develop curiosity, critical thinking, and, above all, flexibility. My students bring a wide range of backgrounds and are heading toward futures that might not even yet exist, so instead of promising one “right” path, I help them build a toolbox to chart their own through storytelling and specificity.

Here are a few highlights from my teaching career that capture what this looks like in practice.
